Andro was considered a natural steriod because it was legal and safe but has many of the same positive effects of illegal steroids. For this reason, many people say it was a miracle for athletes and bodybuilders!
Andro Facts and Effects
Andro is a hormone naturally produced by the
adrenal gland and commonly found in the pollen of Scotch pine trees.
Studies indicate that Andro is a direct testosterone
precursor and when taken orally, will increase blood levels of both
androstenedione and testosterone. According to the German patent for
androstenedione, 50 mg given orally to men raised plasma testosterone levels
from 140% to 183% of normal, 100 mg of oral androstenedione raised levels from
211% to 337% of normal.
Blood levels start rising about 15 minutes after oral administration of
androstenedione and stay elevated for around three hours. A peak in blood
testosterone levels is seen around one to one and a half hours after
ingestion.
First developed in the 1970's by German researchers, it was given to German Olympic athletes to enhance performance in the games. This supplement first appeared in the United States in the mid 1990's. Since that time it has been a big seller in stores across the nation as sports superstars such as Mark McGwire have endorsed the product.
There were many forms of Andro such as: Androstenedione, 4-Androstenediol, 5-Androstenediol, 19- Norandrostenedione, 19-Norandrostenediol, 1 Ad Andro, andro m1t, Etc..
Many different delivery systems were available such as: Andro gel, pills, poppers, stacks, fuel, creams, etc.
Andro Banned
Senate Bill 2195 also called the Androstenedione Ban was passed by unanimous consent in the United States Senate on October 8th, 2004 and has been signed into law by President Bush.
By passing this bill, the Congress has amended the Controlled Substances Act to include Androstenedione supplements such as 4 Androstenediol, 5 Androstenediol, etc. The original Anabolic Steroid Control Act was passed in 1990 creating a list of anabolic steroids that would be classified as "Schedule III" substances and put in the same category as drugs such as heroin and cocaine. Now, with the passage of Senate Bill 2195 (the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 2004), they have added Androstenedione supplements to the Controlled Substances Act.
