Frank Zane Bodybuilder

Frank Zane Tribute Page

Frank Zane Bodybuilding Picture

Frank Zane competed as a bodybuilder in the 1960's, 1970's and 1980’s; he is one of the most aesthetic and ripped bodybuilders ever. He also is one of the few people to ever have won out over Arnold Schwarzenegger in a bodybuilding competition.

Frank beat a young Arnold at the 1968 IFBB Mr. Universe, and he also finally won the 1977 Mr. Olympia after Arnold and Franco retired and the sport went through some changes going away from shear mass and towards a more perfect physique. At the time Joe Weider was trying to bring bodybuilding more into the mainstream, he changed the name of his magazine from "Muscle Builder/Power" to "Muscle & Fitness" and Zane at 5'9' tall weighing 190 had just the right look to be the new face of bodybuilding.

Frank Zane has written many books on bodying and fitness such as "The Zane Way to a Beautiful Body Through Weight Training for Men and Women", "Zane Nutrition" and "Fabulously Fit Forever".

He was nicknamed "The Chemist" because he knew how to peak perfectly on the day of a contest.

Zane Haven now called Zane Experience in San Diego, CA is where Frank does personal training and consultations.

His website is FrankZane.com

Frank Zane Workout

Zane was a big believer in the philosophy of "train for shape, size and cuts will follow", which is why he used only perfect exercise form and did a lot of shaping exercises for each body part.

He trained to get a maximum pump by doing 6 to 12 reps and added weight on each set.

When he was competing he used the advanced 3 way split below:

Day One
Back, Biceps and Forearms

Day Two
Calves and Thighs

Day Three
Chest, Shoulders and Triceps

Abs and Cardio were done every day.
