Heiko Kallbach has been competing as a professional bodybuilder for the last ten years and has usually placed in the top 20 of most of the top IFBB professional shows around the world. Heiko placed 6th in the 2004 Toronto Classic which is his best placing he has received as a professional bodybuilder.
Heiko is 286 pounds of solid muscle and is called the "Berlin Wall" by his fans and his friends for obvious reasons. He now has a gym of his own in Berlin where he comes from. He is someone who is an inspiration for many serious young bodybuilders because of the sheer mass that he brings to the stage.
If there is anything that Heiko brings to the stage when he comes on it is this mass of muscle rather than the aesthetic appeal that one might see in other bodybuilders. Heiko is hardcore and with that look of solid muscle that he brings to bodybuilding which is certainly part of a trend.
Although there is not a lot of information online about the way that Heiko trains the bottom line is all about intensity. He calls his workouts the hardcore Berlin Wall workout which is high intensity. To carry the size and the amount of muscle that Heiko carries on his body only comes with some serious training.
He combines the basic compound exercises with doing some seriously low reps and using the maximum weight that he can. When training his legs and chest Heiko will go down as low as two or three reps for squats and bench-press which is something that can only be done using a strict form and a good training technique.
Note: Heiko Kallbach's routine is based on High Intensity Training for more info see The Colorado Experiment Workout
