Phil Hernon Bodybuilder

Phil Hernon Tribute Page

Phil Hernon Picture

Phil Hernon is one of those bodybuilders that appeared on the scene for the first time looking as if he has been doing this for years and will soon become a household name. Unfortunately we did not see any more of Phil Hernon after 1996 and it is a shame that he will no longer compete.

There is not a lot of information online about Phil which seems that it is almost deliberate but what we do know is that he was born on March 31, 1966 somewhere off the east coast of the USA. Although we did get a record of his training schedule we could not find any details of his life.

Phil has extremely good genetics that he had obviously added a lot of hard work and dedication to, which is exactly what it took to put on the balanced mass of muscle that he presented on stage when he first competed in 1996 at the Night of Champions where he took 15th place.

The only other time we saw Phil onstage again was that same year at the San Jose Pro where he took 8th place. The point is that when Phil first showed himself it certainly looked like he was set to become something of a force in bodybuilding but since then he has disappeared completely.

Phil Hernon Workout

We did manage to dig up an old record of an article that was published about his training routine that he used to do. The format that he used was a bit unusual from a bodybuilders point of view but here are the basics that he would do 6 times a week.

Day 1: Chest, Arms
Day 2: Legs
Day 3: Back, Shoulders
Day 4: OFF
Day 5: Chest, Arms
Day 6: Legs
Day 7: Back, Shoulders
Day 8: OFF

The interesting part of his training is the rep-ranges that he used which always started with a warm-up set and the three working sets of 15, 10 and 5. What we were unable to confirm without finding an interview is if he would do the 5 reps at the beginning of his workout or the end.
